Cindy Mangiola received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from San Diego State University and her Master of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. She has also completed advanced doctoral courses in clinical psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, which focused on psychological assessment and depth psychology.
She completed a majority of her 3,000-hour internship at the YWCA of Monterey County, providing therapy and education for victims of domestic violence and other serious crime. She served the balance of her internship as a counselor at Monterey Peninsula College and the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula’s Outpatient Addiction Treatment center. Her experience in these programs provided the skills and techniques to treat a broad spectrum of emotional disorders including depression, posttraumatic stress and other anxiety disorders, addiction and co-dependency issues, as well as communication and relationship issues. She is licensed in California as a Marriage & Family Therapist and is currently in private practice.
Prior to becoming a therapist, she worked as a marketing executive for several well-known corporations including Time Warner, The Disney Channel and CNBC. After more than a decade in the corporate sector, she spent several years working at home raising her son and daughter and eventually returned to graduate school, shifting her career to incorporate work and life experiences into her role as therapist. This breadth of experience gives Cindy a unique perspective in helping clients with work-related issues, work/life balance, career changes and retirement issues. Her years raising a family contribute first hand experience to her role as a parent educator and family therapist.
As an interactive, solution-focused therapist, her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
